Why maintenance can prevent leaks, ice buildup, and costly repairs.
Every new season, homeowners end up asking one of the most common questions: “Do I really have to clean my gutters again?”
Yes—and it’s one of those simple tasks that often separates a dry, protected home from surprise water damage.
At Exterior Xperts, we don’t just install siding, soffit, fascia, gutters, and downspouts—whether it’s a renovation or a brand-new build. We also care about making sure your drainage system stays reliable season after season, so water moves exactly where it should: off the roof → into the gutters → through the downspouts → away from the home.

Why clean gutters aren’t “maintenance”—they’re protection
When leaves and debris build up inside gutters and downspouts, water can’t flow freely. That’s when the usual problems start:
- Water overflow soaking fascia, soffit, and exterior details
- Leaks at joints and corners due to backups
- Downspouts clogging and water “standing” in the system
- Water pooling near the foundation instead of draining away
- In winter: higher risk of ice buildup and freezing blockages

The best way to reduce the headache: Leaf Guards
If you want fewer gutter-cleaning problems each year, we strongly recommend leaf guards (gutter guards). They help keep leaves and larger debris out while still letting water drain properly.
Leaves, seeds, and debris collect on the roof and get washed into the gutters during rain. Over time, that buildup restricts flow and prevents water from draining through the downspouts. Leaf guards can:
- Greatly reduce clogging
- Improve water flow during heavy rain
- Reduce how often you need cleaning
- Keep gutters looking cleaner and more “finished” year-round

If you don’t have leaf guards yet: keep gutters clean (we can help)
No guards yet? No problem – regular cleaning still keeps your system working properly. In many cases, it only takes a couple of hours. We arrive with the right tools—blower systems, brushes, and equipment – to safely clear debris and restore proper drainage.
What gutter cleaning usually includes
- Removing leaves and buildup from gutters
- Checking downspouts for clogs and clearing them
- Flushing problem areas when needed (for better flow)
- Cleaning out valleys and high-collection zones (when accessible)
- Making sure water is draining away from the home as intended

We inspect your gutters while we clean
Cleaning is only part of the job. During service, we also pay attention to the condition of the system and look for:
- Loose sections or sagging
- Separations at joints/corners
- Areas that may need caulking/sealing
- Downspouts that aren’t draining properly
- Small issues that can become bigger leaks later
That way, you’re not just getting “clean gutters”, you’re getting a quick health check on the whole drainage system.

Repairs in one visit (yes, even if something is damaged)
We’re always ready to help with any exterior needs, including gutter cleaning and maintenance. And if a gutter is damaged, by a tree, impact, or any other cause – we can often fix it right away.
We keep a gutter machine in our trailer, which means we can form and replace sections on-site whenever possible. In many situations, we can repair your gutter or downspout in a single visit; saving you time and preventing water issues from getting worse.
